For 75 years, Yara North America has been driven by the mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet. Supporting our global vision of a world without hunger, we pursue a strategy of sustainable value growth, promoting climate-friendly and high-yielding crop nutrition solutions for the world’s farming community and food industry. In North America our company name and structure have evolved over time, but our commitment to this mission, our customers and the entire industry has always been at the forefront. We believe that together we can achieve more, and have greatly valued every opportunity to collaborate with our customers and farmers for the past 75 years, and look forward to many more years to come.
Celebrating our Past, Committed to the Future
While we celebrate and value the insights gained from our history, we also have our eye on the next 75 years and our ambition to be the Crop Nutrition Company for the Future. We are committed to creating value for our customers and society at large, as we work to develop a more sustainable food value chain. To achieve our ambition, we have taken the lead in developing digital farming tools for precision farming, and work closely with partners throughout the food value chain to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agriculture and food production.
History
Many different organizations were involved along the way to form Yara North America. It began in 1946 when Norsk Hydro, which would eventually become Yara North America in the later years, signed the first sales agreement with Wilson & Geo. Meyer. The years that would follow the first sales agreement contained major landmarks such as being listed on the NYSE and the Oslo stock exchange, and entering joint venture with Farmland Industries and acquiring Transnitro, Phosyn and SaskFerco, along with launching products like Ammonia, YaraLiva® TROPICOTE® and Air1, Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
